We're in week three of a new school year and things are finally starting to slow down - well, almost! I've been using some of my usual games (some that I still need to share), and I'm also anxious to try a few ideas that I found on pinterest over the summer. If I find success, I'd love to share it. This week I tried a fishing game with magnetic numbers as a change from "el bolso de misterio." The kids loved it, but it didn't work as well as I wished. Once I work on the kinks, I'll pass it along.

Today, I'd like to share one story from my adventures. We've been practicing "Cómo te llamas?... Me llamo___" in my first grade classes. I told the students that  I would be stopping them outside of class to ask our question and that I hoped they'd be ready to answer. So, there I was greeting students during my morning bus duty. I saw a first grader (Let's call him Ron,) walking down the hall...

Me: "Hola, Ron. Buenos días."
Ron: "ME LLAMO RON!!"

Well, I couldn't help but giggle a little as I directed him to breakfast. He was SO ready with his answer... I just didn't ask the right question! I hope that your litte ones are keeping you on your toes as well!

I realized today that I haven't done a very good job at adding new things here. I have one more month of summer vacation - so I'll try my best to take advantage and get a few more ideas for Spanish games posted. However, I also plan on having some fun. I'm enjoying my time in the sun!

Woo- hoo! My plan worked! Well, it got started at least. Yesterday I had my first random pinner (shout-out to A. Ross!) on pinterest, which led me to such pinners magical page of Spanish ideas/resources.

Now that my evil (hmm... maybe not so evil?) plan has worked, I guess I should add some more games, activities, maps, etc. .... Next week!

What? There's sun outside that I need to catch!

Well, summer has finally arrived. After a long (yet enjoyable, of course) school year, I was ready for a break. Throughout the year, most of my friends at school & on facebook have been talking about Pinterest. To me, it sounded quite addicting ... so I decided to wait until summer to sign-up. What was I most interested in? - things for school, of course!
What did I find? - a bunch of junk! Ok, maybe it's not all junk. There are lots of ideas from classroom teachers that I can adapt to my liking (story of my life). There are links to fun websites (but let's be honest, does the content ever really match-up?). There links to websites with printables (Ok, yes, free printables are nice, but I'm not really into wasting trees & I don't think my kiddos want to spend their precious Spanish time doing worksheets). Finally, I found one link to a cute little project for Spanish class. One!?! I need more... and I can't be the only one, can I? So, I'm going to do what I wish other teachers like me would do -- I'm going to share!
Today was day one. Three hours later, I've added 3 Thinking Maps and 1 game. Ok, ok, it may not be much, but it's a start! I'll have to add more stuff later (after all, it IS summer... I don't want to work too hard) and even more when I get back to school in fall. What? You think I'm going to go in now? You don't know me very well...

So, if you're not too impressed today, too bad. I hope that this will be useful to SOMEONE out there. & if not today... someday...
